Club Buildings and Extension Project
The extension project has been in the planning for several years, with the foundations being dug two years ago. In 2015, we were given a grant by the Powerco Trust, which enabled us to go ahead with the extension. We had to shift the gully trap and did most of the groundwork ourselves to keep the bill from the drainlayer down.
We finally have a building up and it looks great. A big thankyou to Wayne Marshall the builder, also to all members who have helped with the project. There is still a lot to do yet as funds become available. We still have wiring, insulation and inside walls to do yet. But members have been busy sanding and varnishing the new floor (a big thank you to Lee Regan for his donation of the polyurethane for the floor) as well as painting the door, barge boards and gable ends. John has built a retaining wall in front of the extension.
A big thank you to Lee Regan, G J Gardner Builders and Placemakers who donated insulation and Gib board for the walls of our new building. This has been a big saving for the group. With help from Lee, members have now put these up and the room is looking and feeling a lot warmer. The next stage on this project is to do the ceiling.
